Organizations I Have Worked With

What is Professional Clinical Consulting?

Professional consulting provides experienced guidance when you're working with complex clinical situations that exceed your current experience level. This might include crisis assessment, safety planning, determining appropriate levels of care, or navigating ethical dilemmas with challenging cases.

You're joining many responsible clinicians who seek consultation when needed. Professional consultation is considered a best practice in our field and is often required by licensing boards and professional organizations. Getting outside perspective on difficult cases protects both you and your clients.

Common situations where consulting is valuable include:

  • Assessing suicide risk and developing comprehensive safety plans

  • Managing clients experiencing psychotic episodes or severe mood episodes

  • Determining when higher levels of care are necessary and how to facilitate referrals

  • Navigating complex ethical situations with multiple competing considerations

  • Developing treatment approaches for clients with severe trauma histories

You can learn more about the ethical principles of social workers and code of conduct standards that I follow here.

Why Michelle Solomon for Professional Consulting

I have near a decade of experience working in several different inpatient psychiatric settings in the Greater Seattle area with both voluntary and involuntary patients, including three years running groups in a partial hospitalization program. I’d love to support you with extensive safety planning and assessment for suicide risk, navigating the complex hospital and involuntary (ITA) court system, advocating for the needs of your clients who are hospitalized, and assessing the best options for a higher level or transfer of care.

I can help you determine if you have capacity to continue working with your client, offer recommendations for alternative treatment options, provide suggestions for how to facilitate delicate conversations around their safety risk and what boundaries you have with continuing to work together or not, and instill confidence knowing you are doing the most possible for your client.

What I Can Offer:

Individual Case Consultation

If any of the above applies to you, I offer secure phone or video consulting to help you process and address your concerns regarding your client, provide insight on in-depth safety planning, higher levels of care, and/or the hospital system, and offer recommendations and solutions based on your client’s needs.

My rate is $120/60 minutes billed to the nearest 15 minutes. Please reach out by submitting an inquiry request, or contact me by email or phone if you’re interested in discussing a case, and I’m happy to help you at any step in the process!

Please note: I do not offer free consultations for a 1-1 case.

Workshop Endorsements

  • Jeremy Arp, National Association of Social Workers-WA Executive Director

It was our pleasure to host Michelle Solomon, LICSW, as a breakout presenter at our September 2024 NASW-WA conference in Spokane. Her workshop, "Suicide Risk: Are You Prepared in Your Setting?," was incredibly well-received by attendees across the state. Michelle brought depth, clarity, and compassion to a critical topic, offering participants practical tools for assessment, safety planning, advocacy, and prevention. Her presentation was described as organized, engaging, and highly informative, with participants noting how they brought her insights back to their teams for further discussion. She skillfully addressed the diverse needs of practitioners working in both urban and rural settings and provided accessible, inclusive resources that resonated deeply with attendees. We are grateful for Michelle’s contribution and enthusiastically endorse her as a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and impactful presenter.

  • Rives Thornton, LMHC, Executive Director, Gaia Wellness Center

Michelle gave our mental health counseling group a presentation on Crisis Management that was informative, well-organized, and engaging.  The participants shared with me afterwards that Michelle’s presentation was helpful to them and their clients from the knowledge gained about how to conceptualize clients’ crises, the different facilities that are available to people who are going through crisis, and how to assess the appropriate level of care that a client needs.  As a supervisor, I have witnessed the increased confidence my supervisees have when working with clients who are experiencing a crisis based on the information that Michelle provided in her presentation.  I highly recommend Michelle’s presentations for helping professionals to provide enhanced and effective crisis management for our clients and communities.  Thank you Michelle!

  • Dr. Susanna Kanther, Clinical Health Psychologist, Private Practice and Judicial Assistance Services Program (JASP)

Collaborating with Michelle for my committee's program on Vicarious Trauma was smooth and enjoyable!  She is a clear communicator, easy to work with, and has an energized, relatable presentation style.

  • Sarah Lynne Poole, LICSW, Reflective Collective Owner

Michelle gave a wonderful talk to my therapist community last year, and her expertise and passion shown through! Michelle is passionate, kind and knowledgeable!

  • Some past workshop attendees said:

*Incredibly organized, well supported, engaging, and accessible information. Thank you

*I had limited knowledge on prevention and this was very helpful. I loved the advocacy piece it opened my eyes to ways we can support our community and how I can assess the clients I work with in child welfare.

*Michelle did a very good job of answering and addressing the needs of those who inquired

*Michelle was amazing. I so appreciate this workshop :)
